The wonders around us...

Greetings to you this Monday morning!
As I write this, in front of me lies the endless expanse of the Arabian Sea. The same expanse that I had seen over six years ago from this very place. But the sea is different today. Today it is violent, it is rough and it seems angry. There is no sun in sight and the sky is covered with a blanket of dark clouds. Six years back, when I was here the waters were calm, peaceful and inviting. I had seen a beautiful sunset and a picture of that setting sun still finds a prominent place in my home.
Today as the rain gods bless the western coast of India they leave the ocean in a belligerent mood. The roaring winds, the thundering rains and the huge crashing waves make me gaze at the ocean in awe. This too is a beautiful sight.
Such are the moments that can make us pause, reflect and wonder at the amazing creations of the almighty. It is a tremendous experience to watch the elements in this mood and atmosphere.

They seem to put our life in perspective. We sometimes tend to get so concerned with ourselves that we simply fail to appreciate the beauty and wonders around us.
As I leave this beautiful place, I think, “When would I be here again to experience this splendor?”

If you ever get a chance, do watch the thundering rains at the peak of the monsoons in this part of the country.
Signing off on Sunday, July 13th 2003 at 18:10 from one of India’s most beautiful places, in God’s own country – The Kovalam beach.

Have a great week!!
